During the Drive-Up Burger craze of the 1950's, which saw the birth of many well known burger franchises, Ray's Dairy Maid was started in 1955 on Vivion Road in North Kansas City ("Northland") and eventually changed it's name to Big Burger Dairy Maid.
Over the years, we became known as BiG Burger and have been serving smash burgers, fries and ice cream treats to thousands of people every year. From day one, every BiG burger is made to order, using the smashed method (that's why we call them "Big" Burgers) , where we smash the meat into a thin patty on the hot griddle, creating the unique, characteristic caramelized exterior, sealing in the juicy, delicious interior. We also believe a great burger starts with the best ingredients. That’s why we only use grass-fed beef, sourced from our trusted local partner, Hertzog Meats; to ensure that our customers are getting THE tastiest, highest quality meat! You can really taste the difference!
